“We would like to begin by acknowledging that Buffalo Pound Eco Lodge is situated on Treaty 4 territory, which is the traditional land of the Cree, Saulteaux, Nakota, and Dakota peoples. We recognize and honor the inherent rights, histories, and cultures of these Indigenous nations. For countless generations, the land on which Buffalo Pound Eco Lodge resides has been a place of profound significance and connection for the Indigenous communities of this region. We pay respect to the elders, past and present, who have stewarded this land and the ancestral knowledge embedded within it. We acknowledge the enduring presence, resilience, and contributions of the Indigenous peoples throughout the ages, as well as the ongoing challenges they face in their journey towards self-determination, cultural preservation, and socio-economic well-being. As guests on this sacred land, we commit ourselves to learning from and working in partnership with Indigenous communities. We strive to cultivate meaningful relationships grounded in respect, reciprocity, and understanding. We acknowledge that reconciliation is an ongoing process and that it is our responsibility to listen, learn, and actively engage in the decolonization of spaces, institutions, and attitudes.
